about Stephen Hicks

Born and bred in Melbourne, Australia, my IT career started as a by-product of my being a professional ice skater. I had done a number of ice shows in shopping centres and the like around Australia ands in January 1978 joined "International Holiday on Ice" in Taiwan. I travelled with the company until September 1979 when I went to the then head office in Amsterdam. I stayed in Amsterdam until 1985 during which I created a number of computer systems/applications for the company.

I returned to Australia in late 1985 and continued in the IT industry in numerous roles including developer, systems technican, network adminstrator, messaging adminstrator supporting over 2000 users on both Lotus Notes/Domino and Microsoft Exchange.

After 36 years in IT, I gave it a miss and deceide to help people more directly by becoming a counsellor. So, I completed my Diploma of Counselling (Christian) through the Australian Institute of Family Counselling (AIFC) in 2016 along with my Industry Diploma of Counselling in 2018 and am continuing my education with the Advance Diploma in Counselling and Family Therapy.

I am a member of the Australian Counselling Association (Level 1), the Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement, and the Mental Health Acdemy.
